Makeup Monday | Mini Sephora Makeup Haul (and initial thoughts!)

Hey everyone! I made a little stop off at SEPHORA because I needed some new eye shadow. I was pretty much set on getting one of the Naked palettes by urban decay, but I couldn’t really decide which one. Every time a makeup artist has used them on me, they’re awesome. Also, whenever I use them myself, I find that the colours really work on my eyes, and they have a lot of options. But, standing there in the store, looking at all three palettes, I just thought, I don’t think I really need to spend that much on palettes that have so much variation of the same colours. I pretty much so the same makeup look almost every time I use eye shadow, so it just wouldn’t make sense for me.

Too Faced – Natural Eyes Palette
I was talking to the girl at Sephora and she suggested this palette instead. I was completely sold on it because it basically has colours from the Naked Basics palette (all matte), the taupe undertones of Naked 2 and the rose gold shades of Naked 3. It seemed like the best of all worlds, so I grabbed it!

Skincare | Garnier Products Review

Hey guys! A couple months ago I was fortunate enough to work a Garnier Skincare event for the launch of their new product, the Ultralift Transformer. It was a really cool PR event, and I’m really happy I got to be a part of it.

Lipstick Love - Shocking Coral!

Hey guys! Recently I went to the drugstore and bought a couple lipsticks. I wanted to share this one with you. I've always stayed far away from bright lipsticks because I assumed they never went well with my skin tone. However, a lot of make up artists recently started using some "coral" coloured lipsticks on me and telling me it actually complemented my skin. Finally I decided to go out and try it myself and I loved it!

I know it's not exactly a winter colour, it's definitely more for summer, but I've only just discovered it and I thought I'd share it now! I bought #870 - Shocking Coral from the Maybeline Colour Sensations Lipsticks, and this colour is the the new Vivids line.

DIY | LIP SCRUB!

Hey dolls! Over here in England, I've noticed that my lips get really dry, really fast and they start to burn and get discoloured! I started to google lip scrubs and such, and then I found that in stead of buying one it's so easy to make one for less than $4!

Current hair care must haves!

Hey lovelies! Today I wanted to give you a little update on the hair care products that I've been using lately that I JUST CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT! It should be noted that I don't use all of these everyday, but I'll explain when and why I use them under every post! :)

With the amount of HEAT people use on their hair these day, you MUST MUST MUST have a product for Climate Control!! This is the Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel by OUIDAD. I actually got this product as a gift from Sephora (you know when you have a certain amount of points or whatever..lol). It's great because it works as a protectant but also as an anti-frizz! It's awesome to put it in when your hair is wet because it makes such a difference as you dry!

Sample Showdown!

Hey loves! I've gotten through some samples in the last little bit so I thought I'd give my thoughts on them. This isn't a full review, just some short thoughts on each. I either got these at a drugstore, in a magazine or in the mail! So I didn't have to spend much to get them and it was totally worth it because I may actually buy some of them! ENJOY!

Drugstore Makeup Haul

Okay guys, so it's no secret that I don't know that much about makeup - and I never claimed for this to be a makeup blog. BUT, I do enjoy makeup, and I've been learning a thing or two here and there from getting my makeup done at shoots and stuff - SO, I figured I'd share with you guys some stuff I got at the drugstore! I tend to gravitate more to drugstore makeup products when I'm in a rush or just needing a couple things, because it's cheaper and what not. But when I need something specific I usually splurge a bit more! haha =P

Here's what I got this time around!

COVERGIRL AND OLAY SIMPLY AGELESS EYE CONCEALER - $16.99
I've heard so much about this concealer! Makeup gurus on youtube rave about it, and I recently learned what concealer was like..a year ago..haha NOOB. But anyways, I'm always looking for new ones. So I got this one in the shade 220 - MEDIUM DARK because my skin is more on the dark side. So far I've tried it and on it's own I don't think it does much. HOWEVER, on top of my regular liquid concealer (which is from MAC) I think it does wonders to brighten up the area! So I'm looking forward to continuing to use it! It's a little more expensive than I normally would pay for something drugstore - but if it lasts a while then it'll be worth it!

REVLON NEARLY NAKED PRESSED POWDER - $10.99 *SALE
I've been using the Revlon Photo Ready Powder for about a year, (because I don't use foundation and I prefer powder), but unfortunately I didn't like the colour and it ended up being a bit too light for me. Again I saw makeup gurus RAVING about this product so I had to try it out (marketing at it's finest haha!) and I LOVE IT. The colour suits me way better, it's 040 MEDIUM/DEEP, and it gives a nice smooth finish. This is about the most I would spend on drugstore makeup. And it was on sale! But again I don't wear makeup on a daily basis so I'm sure it'll last me a while!

RIMMEL SCANDAL EYES MASCARA - $6.99 *SALE
I definitely have been needing a new mascara! Of course I went to this one because it was on sale haha! I don't have like a "go to" mascara, I just try lots of different ones all the time. And I find that I usually need to put on more than one type to get the full look that I like. This one does a good job at separating and elongating the lashes ut it doesn't give the thickness I'd like. So we'll see if I keep it.

COVERGIRL LIP PERFECTION LIPSTICK - $7.99 *SALE
Now I'm REALLY BAD at choosing lipsticks, I think as a coloured girl it's sometimes harder to find a lipstick colour that really works for us. This is a colour I wouldn't normally gravitate too - because I tend to go for darker colours on my lips. BUT, makeup artists have started using lighter colours on me, so I broke out of my shell a bit and decided to use this one. It's the colour 330 DIVINE. And you can see it's sort of a light purple. I'm getting used to it haha, I like it! Here's a picture of what it looks like, and on me as well:

RIMMEL KATE LIPSTICK - $6.99 *SALE
Now I just really wanted to try this brand because my cousin has it and she loves it. I was surprised that it actually has great colour payoff. This is a colour I would normally go to, like a dark red. It would defs be a go-to colour for me. It's the colour 11 ROUGE À LEVRES. But I'm sloooooowly breaking out of my comfort-zone with lipstick. Here's what the colour looks like:

QUO MAKEUP REMOVER PADS (FOR EYES) - $4.00 *SALE
I'm actually the worst with removing makeup. It's bad,  I know. So when I saw these on sale I was like I have to get them. When I see them they remind me to take my makeup off! :)

ESSIE NAIL POLISHES - $11.99 EACH
Lastly I got these two nail polishes! I don't own any nail polishes from Essie, so I thought I would try them out since everyone seems to love them! Again, I don't like to spend over $10 on drugstore stuff, but I love these colours, so I figured I'd try them out. I got them in the colours PLAY DATE (LIGHT PURPLE) AND WICKED (DARK PURPLE).

HOPE YOU GUSY ENJOYED THIS POST!

xx

PS. I also got hair ties but those are boring! LOL

Current fave Lancome products!

Here are some of the Lancome products I've been loving this month!

I start with this Lancôme Bienfait Multivital Sunscreen with SPF 30. I love it! Although it's a sunscreen it doesn't totally feel like one, it's super moisturizing, and I make sure I put it on on the days I'm not wearing make up, that way my face stays protected from the sun!

Next, I'm also loving this eye cream for "young looking" eyes. I put it under my eyes, either after the sunscreen (again on days that I'm not wearing makeup, or before I go to bed). I tend to notice slight differences under my eyes. It doesn't change the colour much, but I notice that it looks way less "puffy" the more that I use it.

It's not a thick formula at all, it's very clear and soft. I love it!

Hope you enjoyed!

Which products are YOU loving lately?

I'm obsessed with MANGO scents!

Hi lovelies! I've currently been so obsessed with The Body Shop, especially their fruit scents! I absolutely LOVE their lip butters because they're such a different consistency and formula than regular lip balms or chapsticks. But unfortunately their lip butters don't usually come along with their sets when they do a scent set. So for example, they'll have body lotion, shower gel, body butter and other products of the same scent in a set, but never lip butters!! :( So I decided to buy a lip butter to go along with my body butter when I became so obsessed with this scent!

This lip butter is to DIE FOR! It smells so heavenly, and it does a great job at exfoliating lips because the formula is much thicker than a lip balm or another lip butter..it's less creamy and more dry if you know what I mean. Here's a swatch:

It doesn't look that dry here, but on your lips it comes out much more "tough" and less creamy like most lip butters. Which is good because it can almost be used as a sort of scrub as well. I just love it! I tend to use it under my glosses to make sure my lips are prepped.

I got this Mango Body Butter in a body butter set FOREVER AGO, and because of all the other creams I have, I hadn't gotten a chance to whip it out until recently! Omg you guys don't even know how yummy it smells. As a body BUTTER you need to keep in mind that the consistency is slightly more "oily" than a regular cream, so it's not great to use on your face or anything (sometimes I use regular creams on my face), but it makes your skin SO SMOOTH and smell so yummy!

Here's a swatch:
As you can see, it also has a more think formula, but again more oily than a regular cream - it does wonders for dry skin. I just can't get over the smell, I want to EAT IT!

NEW LIP GOODIES!!

Hey everyone!! I know I’ve been off my blogging game –school is killing me!! And I know I’m not doing the posts I said I’d do – I’mthe kind of person that gets bored REALLY easily, so I’ll be so excited to postsomething, and say I’ll do it, until something more exciting comes along. Thus,I’ve decided not to do posts saying what my “upcoming posts” are going to be,unless I’m SURE I’m going to do it, because I tend to post when I’m excitedabout something. I do have A LOT of ideas, and I SO SO SO wanna mentionsomething, but again I don’t want to say “Here are the posts I’m gonna do..”and then not do them. Know what I mean?

Any who ENOUGH with the ramblings. If you know me at all,you know that I have REALLY chapped lips – like always. And for a long timeVaseline was my best friend. And I would carry a random lip balm around with meall day. But as I got older I found that Vaseline was just a little too thickfor me, and almost oily..if that makes sense? And I started to get REALLY boredof my random lip balms like Chapstick, Nivea, Blistex and more recently I’vealso had the Vitamin Water lip balm. Again, I’ve just been getting REALLYbored, I found that the smell wasn’t very strong in the them and I hated havingto cover my lips like 10 times with the same stick to get good coverage. So..IDID SOME SEARCHING!

And I found…

EOS LIP BALMS

What I really love about these lip balms is how CUTE theyare. The packaging is so different, less boring, and they’re HUGE! I think itprobably has more product than a regular cylinder lip balm. Subsequently youalso get much more COVERAGE out of them which is also great. They have a reallysubtle SMELL as well, which is nice  -I’m thinking of trying their creams too.

Here are the ones I have:

Honeysuckle Honeydew

Sweet Mint

Strawberry Sorbet

Recap:

Ø Great packaging
Ø Lots of product
Ø Subtle smell
Ø Good coverage
Ø Great moisturizer

I also found..

MAYBELINE BABY LIPS

These are also great. Again no boring packaging which isawesome, that’s why I was originally drawn to them. They also have a reallystrong smell, which is great on those days when you want something a littlestronger; I mean your nose is RIGHT above your lips haha. What I’m not a hugefan of is that they’re still the regular tube-like style that most lip balmsare – which is okay because they are quite sleek and fit into your purse orclutch nicely. However, there’s nothing special about that. Another great thingabout these is that they have COLOUR.

So, on a day where you don’t wantsomething as thick as lipstick but you still want your lips to be moisturizedthese are great. I tend not to like lip balms with colour because thelight-ness usually washes my face out – I’m brown baby I need some DEEP colour! So I bought that didn’t have a colour. However, the other two have light colourand I was surprised that they didn’t really wash out my face, so that’s prettycool! Again because of their shape you don’t always get the BEST coverage, so Istill like the EOS shape better but nevertheless I’ll still use these up!

Hereare the ones that I got:

Peach Kiss

Lip Swatch:
You can see that it definitely lightens my lips up too much, and it shimmers a bit which I'm also not a huge fan of - however, I had to apply it a couple times to get this much colour out of it (again because my lips are naturally pretty dark). I'd probably still wear it..just not this thick so it didn't look so light on my skin tone.

Quenched

Grape Vine

Lip Swatch
If you apply constantly it will show up more purple than this, excuse the bad quality photo. But this is essentially what it looks like, again not TOO much colour on my skin, which is good, as a lip balm it DEFINITELY does it's job - and the colour is just a little added bonus, although I'm not sure I'd ever wear it this dark.

Recap:
Ø Cute packaging
Ø Sleek shape
Ø Light colour
Ø Not great coverage
ØGreat moisturizer - slightly more "liquid" payoff than the EOS balms
w

Have you guys tried these yet? What do you think?

PS. I only swatched the ones that actually show colours, the others are regular lip balms so they don't have colour, they just moisturize! I will say though that the Baby Lips is definitely more "glossy" and "wet" when you put it on if you know what I mean, whereas the EOS balms are more dry, and dont leave much of a shine or anything.

Very mini lush haul!

As promised, here's my mini Lush haul! (on the same night too! That's how you know I don't want to study for exams..) I bought 3 items and got two samples from Lush last week! I love Lush products mainly because of the smell, but I also love that they're made with natural products so they're good for your skin, hair etc. Here's what I got:

ITEM #1: REHAB SHAMPOO

I've been wanting to try Lush shampoo for a while. I figured this would be the best one to start with because I have very fine, damaged hair - and the sales person said this one might be good to try! It of course smells wonderful, it's a very subtle fresh scent. So far I've only used it a couple times but it definitely has made my hair a lot less greasy and more smooth.

ITEM #2: VEGANESE CONDITIONER

I really got this because of the name. No I'm totally kidding. But it does sound cool! I mainly got this because I didn't want to mix another type of conditioner with the Lush shampoo, so I thought why not try one? It has an amazing lemon scent, quite fresh and strong! I apply this only to my roots and so far it gives my hair a very smooth texture and leaves it smelling great!

ITEM #3: SEXY PEEL (MY FAVOURITE SOAP!

This soap is kind of an inside joke between my cousins and I, but maybe I'll explain that another..ANYWAYS, it is my ABSOLUTE favourite soap in the entire world. It has this amazing fresh, citrus scent and scrubs the skin so well because it has actual bits of fruit in it! I prefer rougher soaps because I feel like they're actually cleaning my body!

SAMPLE #1: SANDSTONE SOAP

When I mentioned that I liked rougher soaps the sales associate mentioned this soap..he said that it makes your skin very smooth because it scrubs away dead skin, dirt etc. So I thought why not get a sample - I haven't tried it yet but it has a very subtle soap smell, so it should be nice!

SAMPLE #2: NORTHERN LIGHTS SOAP

I COULDN'T GET MY EYES AWAY FROM THIS SOAP! The colours are just so damn vibrant and beautiful. You know how I love my fresh scents - and this soap is NO EXCEPTION. It smells wonderful! It has a strong lime and cypress scent, which is a great out-of-the-shower smell in my opinion. But jeez isn't it just SO PRETTY?!

That's it for now guys, I'm so excited to try these soaps and hopefully buy some full-sized ones..again I should probably go back to studying now..

I'm thinking of trying the BIG shampoo by Lush next. Has anyone used it?

What are your favourite Lush products?

xoxo

Shivani
