Vegucated
As a vegetarian, I felt it quite necessary to watch this
documentary. I was immediately intrigued by the title. This documentary
definitely pushes veganism more than vegetarianism, but it’s very informative
about both. Even if you have no intention to ever stop eating meat, I’d still
recommend this documentary because it’s just so important to know these facts
about food itself, health, the food industry and the treatment of factory farm
animals. It’s definitely one to watch!
Katy Perry: Part of Me
I’ve always loved Katy Perry, and if possible this
documentary made me love her even more. It depicts her struggle to stardom, and
the intense process of touring. Where it really got me though, was experiencing
all of her emotions as her marriage fell apart. The cameras were there through
it all. It felt VERY real, which is more than I can say for most celebrity
documentaries. It’s also quite beautiful how she uses the songs from her album
as the soundtrack to the documentary, with specific songs for different parts
of her life. Even if you’re not a huge Katy fan, it’s still worth the watch!
I AM
This is an unbelievably cool documentary about life, and
what we can all do to create positive vibes and a more happy life for everyone
on earth. Without giving too much away, this documentary really delves into the
more scientific approach to human emotion and empathy. That’s what’s really
interesting about it. The director brings it all back to facts, and proves that
it’s really up to us to change the world, by changing ourselves. If you need
any sort of pick-me-up or restoration of faith in humanity, this one’s for you!
Blackfish
I wanted to visit the new Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto
before I watched this documentary. Then, my mind was changed forever. This
documentary shows you what really happens behind the scenes of this industry
and how terrible animals are treated. It also shows the audience how dangerous
mistreated animals can be for humans. It demonstrates how incredibly special
and beautiful these animals are, and why they should be left to live in their
natural habitats. I encourage you to watch this documentary and be exposed to
the horror of this industry so together we can do something to change it.
