Welcome to Day 1 of our 12 Days of Christmas! Today we're talking about our five fave Christmas Albums. What's the Christmas season without a little music to set the mood, right?
Home for Christmas, ‘N SYNC
Okay OBVIOUSLY
this is on the list because let’s be real, ‘Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays’ is
everyone’s real favourite Christmas
song. Also, the three of us used to try to replicate their wonderous ‘O Holy
Night’ harmonies (it’s a five part harmony, what?)
year upon year of our entire adolescence, so this album is definitely near and
dear to our little musical hearts. If you want to instantly flashback to the
Christmases of your childhood, ‘N SYNC is your best bet.
Merry Christmas, Mariah Carey
Here we are, at
the messiah of Christmas albums. Everyone, everywhere, from 80 year olds to 8
year olds, loves this album. More specifically the number one Christmas anthem
that sprang from this album. The song that basically signals the start,
duration, and end of the Christmas season: “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.
If you don’t know every lyric, every run, every high note, you will be asked to
leave. And never return. If you want the most legendary Christmas experience,
The Queen is your best bet.
Christmas, Michael Bublé
BUBLÉ. Bublé is a
Canadian treasure. Everyone loves Bublé. We got this album for our Mom last
Christmas (because she’s obsessed with him), and it’s beautiful. His voice is
the equivalent of sitting next to a fireplace with a cardi on, roasting
marshmallows. Which is really nothing less than we’d expect from him. Ah, good
ol’ Bublé. If you want music to get you right into that warm festive mood,
Michael is your best bet.
Under the Mistletoe, Justin Bieber
Speaking of good
old hometown boys, the Biebs has made his way onto our list with ‘Under the Mistletoe’. It’s no secret
Sonia, and I suffered a brief obsession with him at the end of last year, and
this album only made it worst. Plus, it’s the only Christmas music where you’ll hear
the word ‘Shawty’ so…there’s that. ‘Mistletoe’, ‘Fa La La’ (Featuring Boys II
Men, HELLO), and my personal fave ‘Christmas Eve’, are all amaze. Not to
mention he collab’d with the Christmas Queen herself on her masterpiece of a
song, and although the original is the best (obvs), we still jam to it. If
Mariah approves, we all approve. If you
want a youthful, new-spin-on-old-classics sort of mood, the Biebs is your
best bet.
My Kind of Christmas, Christina Aguilera
CHRISTINA. I
basically know every single note to her rendition of ‘Have Yourself A Merry
Little Christmas’ and her duet of it with Brian McKnight is one of my faves.
She is one of the best vocalists of our generation, so this album couldn’t be
anything less than stellar. If you love slightly over the top renditions of
classic Christmas songs, Christina’s your girl.
Hope you jam out to some of these (if you're not already) and start your holiday season off right!
