DIY | Party Décor

Hi dolls! We recently had a candy themed 1st birthday party for our niece, and made banners to go with each table at the party, labels for the candy bar, and loot bags. So we decided to do another DIY in case you wanted to attempt some party décor!

These are extremely similar to the one's we made for Shivani's going away party in the summer time, however they're a different style. Let's get started!

This is what you'll need!

Banners:
- bristol board (we used four background sheets and 1 sheet per colour for the letters. this covered five signs)
- acrylic paint, in the colours of your choice
- circular sponge stamps, you can get these at your local craft store such as Walmart or Michaels
- twine
- scissors
- pencil
- ruler
-glue gun

Candy Bar & Food Labels:
- business cards, you can get these at any office supplies store such as Staples, Walmart or Office Depot
- decorative duct tape, we used a green, pink & orange chevron pattern because it matched the candy theme colours! You can get this at any craft store.

Candy Bar Bags:
- pack of clear loot bags, you can get at any party store
- sheet of self adhesive labels, you can get these at any office supply store

Banners

one: draw triangle on whatever background you choose
two: cut it out
three: draw letter on whatever colour background you choose
four: cut it out

five: pour your chosen paint colours into a container. we used paper plates
six: use a circular sponge tool (we got ours at michaels in a pack of four), you could also use bingo markers if you have those, but we thought the sponge & paint looked nicer!
seven: dip the sponge into the paint and dab off onto surface. they hold a lot of paint so make sure to dab it off so you don't get a splash of paint on your triangle
eight: dot the tool onto the background. since there are four more colours be sure to not go crazy with just one colour of dots. leave room for the others! we noticed two or three dots per colour was a good number.

nine: once the dots are dry (the acrylic paint dried incredibly quickly!) glue your cut out letters onto the background
ten: flip the triangle over and place a line of glue near the top of the triangle! make sure the letter is the right side up and be sure the lay the word backwards on the ground so it's not backwards when you hang the sign up! we made that mistake....oops!

Food Labels

These are super easy to do. Just separate the perforated business cards, cut 2 strips of decorative tape long enough to fit the length of the business card. You can make these as thick or as thin as you'd like! Then stick them on the top and bottom length of the card, creating a cute border. Next, take coloured markers and write each candy item in a different colour!

Candy Bar Bags

The candy bags were the easiest things to make! The creation of the labels was the hardest part of the whole process, aligning the words and picture on the word processing program gave us the most trouble. But all in all, it takes no time at all! Just mass print the labels, and stick em on the bag! There's literally nothing more to it. Then, spread em out on the candy table with some twist ties and let people load em up with candy! Candy bars are the best things to have at parties because no matter how old the crowd is, everyone loves candy! It's so much fun to see adults turn into kids again, filling their bags to the brim with their favourite treats. Plus it's a pretty 'sweet' way to thank people for attending #punintended.

There you go! Three easy party décor ideas that'll spruce up any gathering. After all, it's the little touches people appreciate the most! Happy DIY-ing everyone :)
